11 Free Earth Day Events in Los Angeles #EarthDayLA

Earth Day is a special day for our planet and all its inhabitants. Every year on April 22, we remember to give thanks to our life-sustaining biosphere and discuss ways to make our planet a better place. As a cave-dwelling, tree-climbing, ocean-surfing, and powder-shredding creature of the wild, this is by far my favorite day of the year!

After moving to Los Angeles and volunteering with Surfrider LA, I’ve seen firsthand that protecting nature means a lot to my new Angeleno brothers and sisters. I believe that people protect what they love, love what they know, and know what they experience. So the best eco-warriors are the ones that have connected with nature in an exciting and meaningful way. They know what they’re fighting for.

From what I’ve seen working with StokeShare and their One Watershed Initiative, environmental literacy takes root when introduced at the youth level. We leverage experiential learning through action sports to help kids find the thrill of adventuring in our natural world. But my friends, it’s never too late to fall in love with the outdoors!

Here are the free Earth Day events I found in Los Angeles to celebrate as a family and show your kids the importance of protecting our global playground. Whether you’re mighty or small or somewhere in between, there’s sure to be a celebration wherever you’re at this Saturday!
